Summary:
Hell yeah! Finally, my very own video game: Deadpool! You read right! High Moon Studios – the masterminds behind Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy, the Transformers War, and Fall of Cybertron videogames – was hired by yours truly to create the most awesome video game yet (until they come out with a Deadpool 2, but one step at a time, here)! It will be published by Activision & Marvel Entertainment, the same guys who published other Marvel-related games. The game is out right now! MARVELous!!!!
What kinda game will it be? Let’s see; Daniel Way is writing the script (the same Daniel Way that writes most of my comics and adventures); Nolan North is voicing me (the same Nolan North that voices most of my appearances); and it will be a third-person action game with bouncing EVERYTHING! (If you catch my drift. Wink!) So, in short, get ready to play a very, VERY, bad BAD video game.
Introduction:
There are a few important things I need to say before you crack into my insanely sweet game. (Oof. Here we go again.) I’m a mercenary with an accelerated healing factor. I’ve been described as unstable, which is just plain coo-coo. (Wait, do sane people say coo-coo?) I’m gonna battle for the safety of humans and mutants. (And even mumans). Be prepared for just about anything. (Holla!)
Game Type:
Deadpool is an antihero action comedy beat ’em up video game.
An anti-hero or anti-heroine is a main character in a story who lacks conventional heroic qualities and attributes such as idealism, courage and morality. Although antiheroes may sometimes perform actions that are morally correct, it is not always for the right reasons, often acting primarily out of self-interest or in ways that defy conventional ethical codes.
The action game is a video game genre that emphasizes physical challenges, including hand–eye coordination and reaction-time. The genre includes a large variety of sub-genres, such as fighting games, beat ’em ups, shooter games and platform games. Some multiplayer online battle arena and real-time strategy games are also considered action games. In an action game, the player typically controls a character often in the form of a protagonist or avatar. This player character must navigate a level, collecting objects, avoiding obstacles, and battling enemies with their natural skills as well as weapons and other tools at their disposal. At the end of a level or group of levels, the player must often defeat a boss enemy that is more challenging and often a major antagonist in the game’s story. Enemy attacks and obstacles deplete the player character’s health and lives, and the player receives a Game over when they run out of lives. Alternatively, the player gets to the end of the game by finishing a sequence of levels and seeing the credits. But some action games, such as early arcade games, are unbeatable and have an indefinite number of levels; with the player’s only goal being to get as far as they can to maximize their score.
In a modern sense, comedy (from the Greek: κωμῳδία, kōmōidía) refers to any discourse or work generally intended to be humorousor amusing by inducing laughter, especially in theatre, television, film, stand-up comedy, or any other medium of entertainment. The origins of the term are found in Ancient Greece. In the Athenian democracy, the public opinion of voters was influenced by the political satire performed by the comic poets at the theaters. The theatrical genre of Greek comedy can be described as a dramatic performance which pits two groups or societies against each other in an amusing agon or conflict. Northrop Frye depicted these two opposing sides as a “Society of Youth” and a “Society of the Old.” A revised view characterizes the essential agon of comedy as a struggle between a relatively powerless youth and the societal conventions that pose obstacles to his hopes. In this struggle, the youth is understood to be constrained by his lack of social authority, and is left with little choice but to take recourse in ruses which engender very dramatic irony which provokes laughter.
Beat ’em up (also known as brawler) is a video game genre featuring hand-to-hand combat between the protagonist and an improbably large number of opponents. Known as fighting games before the advent of one on one fighting games like Street Fighter, traditional beat ’em ups take place in scrolling, two-dimensional (2D) levels, though some later games feature more open three-dimensional (3D) environments with yet larger numbers of enemies. These games are noted for their simple gameplay, a source of both critical acclaim and derision. Two-player cooperative gameplay and multiplayer characters are also hallmarks of the genre. Most of these games take place in urban settings and feature crime-fighting and revenge-based plots, though some games may employ historical, science fiction or fantasy themes.
A video game is an electronic game that involves interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a two- or three-dimensional video display device such as a TV screen, virtual reality headset or computer monitor. Since the 1980s, video games have become an increasingly important part of the entertainment industry, and whether they are also a form of art is a matter of dispute.
Game play:
Deadpool is an action beat ’em up video game, with new combos becoming available to Deadpool as he progresses. The game, which is rated “mature”, frequently breaks the fourth wall by having Deadpool verbally interact with the player based on their skill and progress.
By default, Deadpool is armed with both guns and swords, but he also has access to giant hammers, plasma guns, and a range of other alternatives. A short-range of teleportation moves are possible as well. As he slowly falls apart while sustaining damage, players must avoid further damage in order to recover.
There are some stealth mechanics, as occasionally (and on one occasion forced) Deadpool is able to dispatch enemies stealthily with either his melee weapons or guns, though gun “stealth” kills will immediately alert all other enemies.
Story-Line:
When Deadpool’s pitch for “the most awesome game ever” starring himself is rejected by High Moon Studios, he sets off explosives at the studio, which forces them to cooperate. He even hires Nolan North as his voice actor. The game’s script is delivered to him; finding it boring, Deadpool draws all over it with crayon.
Following the first few lines of the script, Deadpool sets out to assassinate corrupt media mogul Chance White. Deadpool storms White’s media headquarters, slaughtering his guards before tackling himself and White out of the latter’s penthouse window and into the sewers (blowing the game’s budget in the process by repeating the events for kicks). White is saved by the Marauders, forcing Deadpool to pursue before finding the first of many glitches/unfinished areas throughout the game, the result of Deadpool blowing the game’s budget. Deadpool is forced to call High Moon multiple times to coerce/bribe them into finishing the game. After killing Arclight, Deadpool stumbles upon White meeting Mr. Sinister, who has Blockbuster kill him once informed that the mogul’s satellites are under his control. This angers Deadpool as he lost his bounty, killing Vertigo and knocking out Blockbuster. But Mr. Sinister uses his powers to reduce Deadpool to a disembodied head, leaving him to regenerate unconscious.
Deadpool awakes to see the X-Men: Wolverine, Rogue, Psylocke, and Domino. Joining them, Deadpool flies the Blackbird to Genosha, Sinister’s hideout; however, he crashes the plane. The X-Men remain out cold, despite Deadpool’s comedic attempts to slap Wolverine awake. While wandering through Genosha, Deadpool runs into Cable, who has come from the future to ensure that Sinister’s plan does not succeed (as it will unintentionally destroy the world). But a bored Deadpool drowns out Cable’s discussion with a bullet to the head, reviving to find a message from Cable urging him to hurry or he’ll miss an “incredibly large-breasted” fan girl. This motivates Deadpool to regroup with Cable, only to learn there is no fan girl. After Cable explains a security tower is broadcasting a signal to keep the X-Men unconscious, Deadpool infiltrates it and discovers Sinister wired into it. Messing with the controls, Deadpool causes the tower to explode and kill Sinister; however, it’s a clone.
Cable convinces Deadpool to help by telling him that his favorite taco restaurant will be destroyed along with the rest of the world if Sinister isn’t stopped. Reconfiguring a Sentinel foot into a flying machine to go to Magneto’s citadel, Deadpool accidentally causes the foot to malfunction and crashes into Rogue mid-air, leading to her capture by Blockbuster. After crashing, and getting his disembodied arm back from his dog Mr. Shuggums, Deadpool goes to save Rogue from Blockbuster while hoping to seduce her. After a side trip where he ends up killing another Sinister clone, Deadpool takes out Blockbuster and saves an injured Rogue by letting her absorb his healing powers via kissing. Deadpool’s extra personalities – screwball and serious – are also transferred to Rogue’s mind briefly.
Deadpool briefly dies when Mr. Shuggums retrieves an explosive and he is reunited with his lover Death. Death tells Deadpool that Sinister had been exhuming mutant bodies to obtain their unique DNAs, and needs Deadpool to retrieve the suffering souls unable to pass on. Deadpool agrees as he comes back to life and, again meeting Cable, goes on a spirit quest to retrieve the souls for Death and causes the underground passage to cave-in, foiling Sinister’s plans. After reuniting with Wolverine on the surface, Deadpool travels further into the citadel as he defeats clones of the Marauders and then a group of Mister Sinister clones. The real Mister Sinister later shows up and, after defeating the X-Men, Deadpool kills him by leaving him open to be squashed by the Sentinel foot. Deadpool is unsure if he killed the real Mister Sinister until Cable gives thumbs up confirmation, allowing Deadpool to call out for the end credits.
As Deadpool exudes joy over how awesome his game is, High Moon’s representative Peter Della Penna calls him and admits that he really hadn’t blown their budget, at which Deadpool proceeds to actually do so by repeatedly creating explosions during the credits. My boss games starts with me getting some voicemail from Wolverine and Domino and finally High Moon Studios, but they say i can’t have my own video game! But I managed to persuade them to change their minds.
I then start to wander around my apartment playing with my junk (no, not like that) then a girl (whose player model gets repeated a LOT) gives me my scrip. My inner voice “the writer ” (That’s me.) says i should read it, but I don’t like so my OTHER inner voice “the partier” (Sup!) says that I should just make my own.
Your welcome, I was smart in this!
No you weren’t!
Yes I was! Shut up!
No YOU shut up!
No you!
I’m gonna put you two on mute now. Any way, I go to some building to capture some creep named Chance White, kill some goons, blow up helicopters, the usual badass stuff. But then Chance gets rescued by the Nasty Boyz, so I had to chase him across the sewers, killing Arclight in the process, until he gets killed by Sinister since he didn’t need him anymore (apparently they had some plan going, but I never paid attention). I nearly killed that sonuvabitch, but he cheated by blowing me up the hell up. I healed up and met with X-Men who planned to go after Sinister by heading to his base in Genosha, and guess what… I GOT TO FLY THE BLACKBIRD!!!
(Apparently, whoever was writing this article is too lazy to continue, but he’ll be back later to finish. Hey Acme! Where are you, you haven’t completed the article yet!).
Stuff you should know:
One: WHEN you play this game (there’s no “if,” you WILL play it), you’d better make me look good. Keep me running, and gaze upon my glorious posterior. I don’t want to be sittin’ around doin’ nothin’! And two: wait, sorry, bathroom break (I’m actually not sorry; I have to piss, BAD).
Okay, and TWO: don’t compare my game to anyone else’s. Like that chump, Spider-Man. (following stuff is false) His newest game?! Go play it, see! Just kidding, don’t. Actually… yeah, no, don’t play it. You’ll want your money back the minute you look at the cover! It’s just horrifying! Same with his newest movie. You know what? Just don’t bother with him at all. This is MY Wiki, anyway, right? My game. MY BUSINESS! (Okay, I’ve heard a lot of people loved his new game but still)
At first, my game and DLC was removed from digital storefront on January 2014, for some reasons has to do with Activision’s Marvel license limits. However, good news is, they have return to Steam/PC digital storefront on July 15, 2015. 😀 Even better news, gamers, my game will be ported to Xbox One and Playstation 4 on November 17, 2015 (Next month). Isn’t it EXCITING!? Perhaps because of my upcoming movie produced by 20th Fox. Stay tune for the HD remaster port of my game, gamers. ;D
