It is often believed that locations of garages doesn’t make any difference in how much profit they generate in Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2). However, it is far from the truth! Think of it : There are two cities A and B. A has 5 industries whereas B has 3. Which one do you think will have more jobs available ? You know the answer already. Don’t you ? So lets quickly move on to finding out which are the best cities to buy, not only your first garage but also the ones afterwards in ETS2.
Question 1 : So which city is the best for buying your first garage ?
For the base version of ETS2 (without any DLC) the answer is : Milan (Italy). The reason is two-fold : 1. It has 7 industries which is the highest among all cities in the base version and 2. It is one of the only 8 cities in the base version which has a Garage, Gas station, Hotel, Recruitment Agency and a Service Center. Now if we quickly take a look at the table below where I have compared Milan with those other 7 cities, you can see it is clearly coming on top :
Question 2 : So after Milan where should I buy my next garages ?
The answer is : Paris (France), Salzburg (Austria), Prague (Czech Republic) and Berlin (Germany). But why ? Because with the purchase of your next four garages in these cities, you will now have 5 establishments in 5 different countries. The Rule of 5. A look at the table below will tell you that in terms of facility you will have access to pretty much everything you need.
28 industrial depots
4 different truck manufacturers
5 garages (G)
2 gas stations (O)
5 hotels (H)
4 recruitment agencies (R)
5 service shops (S)
Plus the placement of garages this way also makes tactical sense. Because now you will be well placed to expand your truck empire to both Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and the entire United Kingdom as well. Take a look at the map below and you will understand my point. The orange stars are where the garages would be placed geographically.
Question 3 : How do you find industry rich cities in ETS2 ? See the screenshot below ? It is of Gdansk (Poland) where you can clearly see are 5 companies operating. Plus it also has a port. This right away makes it a hotspot for business.
So if you happen to find a city with similar or better industrial density accompanied with great ancillary facilities, you can be sure that it will be ripe for business. In my upcoming eBook I have categorized and rated all the 233 cities in ETS2 based on how good they are for business. The demo however is available for download now. FREE!
Question 4 : So what do I do after buying my 5th garage ?
Your next target should be to delve into buying garages in with 4 industries cities. It will be one heck of a task in itself if you are able to complete that. Why ? Because there are : 1. 30 cities with 4 industries 2. 32 cities more with 3 Now you understand why I said that it will be an heck of an achievement, right ? A point which is rather noteworthy here is : Ideally you should first focus on purchasing garages in locations that are more central in the map. Because that will facilitate your drivers to get long distance jobs more easily. Which are be more profitable than anything else. If you have read the driver training guide you already know what I am talking about).
