Christmas Quiz 2016

It’s the beginning of the December. For the past two years, I have produced a Christmas quiz template that can be used for the holiday season. This year is no different.

What’s new

Last year, I released an updated version of the Christmas tree themed quiz. This year, I wanted to change the design and the layout of the Christmas quiz.

I wanted to create a game that used the present icons I made for the 2015 version, but also a game that had a bit more versatility. Using the 3D shape options in PowerPoint, I designed some cubes and and arranged them in a hex grid layout.

The new board design provides different game options.

  1. For a long game, you can play until all 30 questions have been answered.

  2. For a short game, you play vertically or horizontally i.e. start on one side of the board and try to answer questions in a line to reach the other side of the board.

  3. For more variety, you can assign a different question type to each color (or odds and evens), assign a different team to each color, or a different points value to each color.

How to use the template

Download the Christmas Quiz and open the template.

The Christmas quiz is a basic template, so you will need to add your own questions.

The Christmas quiz question slide

The question slide design is supposed to represent an unwrapped present with a question inside.

There are several different types of questions you can use:

  1. Vocabulary questions

  2. Grammar questions

  3. Text book specific questions

  4. English Challenges

  5. Role-play situations

  6. 1 minute presentations

  7. Christmas questions

If you are doing a holiday themed lesson and want to use Christmas related questions, try this website. They have a large collection of Christmas questions that you can use. There are also additional resources here.

One you have typed in your questions, start the presentation from slide 1.

The Christmas Quiz from 2015 was a re-release with some updates. The menu design was in the shape of a Christmas tree, and question and answer appear in the shape of baubles (Christmas tree decorations). I also included some Christmas quiz resources.

Stocking Fillers - Featured Image

Christmas stocking fillers is a low-prep Christmas activity. It’s a picture dictation activity that encourages students to talk about what they want for Christmas and use adjectives to describe the objects in their Christmas stockings.
